We Remember, We Rise, We Refuse to Look Away

Today we gather with our hearts uncovered and our spirits trembling with truth, to remember our trans community, the ones who have endured trauma, the ones who have been mistreated, the ones whose lives were stolen by hands that feared their brilliance and systems that refused their humanity.

This world, this world that claims to be just, this world that claims to be free, has too often denied their dignity, silenced their voices, and failed to protect their lives. And we will not pretend otherwise. We will not soften the truth. We will not whisper what must be shouted.

Because today is not only mourning. Today is resilience. Today is reckoning. Today is healing. Today is a declaration that trans lives are not tragedies, they are testimonies. They are teachers. They are sacred.

We honor the courage of every trans person who continues to live authentically in a world that tries to legislate their existence and erase their reflection. We honor the ones who keep choosing truth even when truth is dangerous. We honor the ones who keep choosing life even when life has not chosen them back.

We honor the ancestors, the ones whose journeys were cut short, whose names were mispronounced, whose stories were rewritten, whose light was dimmed but never extinguished. Their spirits are still here, guiding us toward justice, toward liberation, toward a world worthy of their memory.

Ubuntu reminds us: I am because you are. You are because I am. We are bound together in breath, in struggle, in becoming. Your freedom is my freedom. Your healing is my healing. Your rising is my rising.

So hear me clearly: We will never forget the journey. We will never forget the lives. We will never forget the truth. We will not look away. We will not be silent. We will not be complicit.

We are here. We are whole. We are rising. We are healing. We are love made flesh— unapologetic, unafraid, unbroken.

Asé. Amen. And so it is.
